Weston Reserve University is an educational
arm of University Consortium International, Ltd. registered in the Republic
of Seychelles. University Consortium International (UCI) serves
as the administrative centre for all components schools. UCI is
a private, international NGO (non-governmental organisation) with the
mission of research, dissemination of knowledge and advocacy for distance
education. The University Consortium International
charter authorizes the development and delivery of educational programs,
worldwide.
In 2003, Weston Reserve University received
a
Royal Charter from Kuwait,
conferring recognition as an institution of higher learning and granting
authority to operate within and outside that state.
In 2008, the University received an
Al-Qassimi Royal Academic Charter
from United Arab Emirates.
Weston Reserve University and the other members
school of UCI hold a Parliamentary Charter from the
International States Parliament for Safety and Peace,
Palermo, Italy. This charter is valid in all countries that recognize
the Parliament.
Weston Reserve University is recognized as
an international institution of higher learning specialising in distance
education in a Diploma of Recognition granted by the
International Association of Educators for World
Peace, an international consultative body of the UNESCO.
The WRU School of Religious Studies (currently
under development) is a separate entity, operating under an affiliation
agreement by which WRU confers degrees upon qualified graduates of the
School. Approval to operate from the State of Florida will be forthcoming
upon proof of compliance under a new law effective January 2003.
In the meantime, the school is fully operational under WRU auspices.
